Busy Times end of 2019 into 2020

Autumn time brought visitors to the area, some new, who enjoyed the spectacular colours that Speyside offers. After the last holiday visitors we were glad to be able to help out 2 local families with a longer let. Then our usual Christmas and New Year guests had great fun at local events, the Nethy Bridge Torchlight Procession at New Year with Dance and Fireworks till the wee hours! There was plenty snow on the Cairngorm Mountains, but our roads stayed dry and black down here. January was mild which allowed us to put in a new bench top in the Bothy kitchen, sink and splash back. We had our first snow in February, but not enough to stop us putting on a new Front door on the Bothy! All looking fresh and lovely for spring, then we learnt of the COVID-19 Pandemic. This took us into Lockdown, and everyone was ‘staying at home’ to STAY SAFE. Our Chalets were closed till end of July 2020. The Squirrels kept us amused playing ‘chase’ in the garden!

2019 Season

Mild Winter 2019, beautiful Spring! Our visitors enjoyed lovely weather and the birds in May were plentiful! The Deer came into the garden, and helped keep the grass down, and the trees! (see video!) We were blessed with mostly dry, sunny WeekEnds throughout summer, and lots of time spent in the garden , by all 🙂 Lots of continental visitors, who all loved Scotland, (see our comments in the Visitor Books) www.cairngormsnationalpark , www.ridecairngorm , www.nethybridge Lets hope Autumn / Winter is kind and of course, as busy as ever!

Summer 2018, the longest & hottest in over 40yrs!

Thank you to everyone who visited this first half of the year, we’ve had visitors from all over the globe. Our regular guests enjoyed the outdoors as always, and forever praising our little improvements in and around the Chalet & Bothy 🙂     Now Autumn is here,  the leaves are turning and our lovely huge Larch tree will be golden once again! Check out & ‘like’ our facebook page too! Happy Autumn 🙂

2017 ~ wow what a season!

We had 3 new windows installed which make such a difference, not only to the view but warmth aswell! A new fridge , and oven, so we are always trying to make improvements. All in all the Chalet has been well-loved this year 🙂

Winters almost over~ Snowdrops are up!

We’ve had a fairly easy winter with not too much snow to clear, but enough to enjoy all the Snowsports.  Hopefully enough snow to last til Easter, and over the School Holidays. Then the Osprey will return and all the birds to watch. The Pot-Belly Wood Stove has been well used and such a treat! Keeping the Bothy nice n’ cozy! Soon it’ll be time for some gardening, meanwhile we’re enjoying the snowdrops and crocuses 🙂

Autumn Colours

Spectacular colours in all the Trees around us, and the Squirrels and deer coming in for the view! We’ve had a very busy season from April to September, returning visitors and new visitors to the area, its been lovely 🙂  Looking ahead to some lovely Autumn walks through the forest and round the Lochs.  Our latest treat is a Pot Belly Wood Burner installed into the Bothy, nice n cozy!

Our 1st Anniversary in Mondhuie

Here we are into our second year in Mondhuie! Certainly more snow than last year already! Lets hope it is a good season for everyone 🙂   We really enjoyed having all our visitors – regulars and new alike, learning all about the business and enjoying our own secluded spot in Speyside.  This New Year has started with new visitors from as far as Bristol and over Christmas we had visitors from Notts,  they had been here in August, they couldn’t wait to come back!! With their Campervan too! Now lots of bookings this week, we are looking forward to meeting you all! Happy Holidays with lots of R ‘n R!   (thats Rest & Recuperation!)

Summer blooms

Lovely variety of summer blooms in our garden, along with plenty sunny days for long walks, cycling, bbqs, golfing and of course –  relaxing!

Now Autumn is here and the Spey Valley is full of Colour, time to make the most of daylight hours before the ‘clocks’ change!

Long Eared Owl

May Time, and the Osprey at Loch Garten have their first hatchling!     The Apple blossums are beginning and the birds are nesting.

There is a Long- Eared Owl around, in the Mondhuie area, aswell as the Woodcocks.

Plenty of Butterflies and Moths too, keeping our visitors happy!

Easter is Hare!!

We have been having a new visitor hopping into the garden, a hare we have nicknamed ‘Blue’. This is fun to watch as he explores the garden, then quite amusing when he slept under a tree for the rest of the day! We kept checking to see if ‘he’ was still there, and sure enough when we got close enough 2 ears would pop up!                                                     Yesterday we were walking along the old railway line (just across the road), and there was a hare ahead of us, we wonder if it was ‘Blue’!                    10174927_1384726765140293_8468823635114034388_n
We hope he will tell his mate the Easter Bunny to be sure and visit too!
