Badenoch and Strathspey has an enormous wealth of activities and attractions to offer. Mountaineering, walking and climbing are year-round activities to be found in the Cairngorm and Monadhliath mountains, with skiing a winter option at either Cairngorm or the Lecht ski areas. Both are approximately ½ an hour's drive away.

Wildlife?

Wildlife

Nethy Bridge backs onto Abernethy Forest, an RSPB Reserve with Ospreys, Capercaillie, Crested tits, Crossbills and many other birds to delight the ornithologist. Snow Buntings, Ptarmigan and Dotterel are all nesting species of the Cairngorm plateau and can be seen if one is prepared to walk a distance away from the CairnGorm ski car park.

Outdoor Activities

Sports

Fishing, Golf, Tennis, Pony Trekking, Mountain Biking, and Watersports are all activities which can be undertaken in the area, and the Speyside Way long-distance footpath goes close to Mondhuie.

Family Activities

Many of the features of Nethy Bridge itself and the network of paths around the village can be found on the village's website at www.nethybridge.com. For the family, visits to the Funicular Railway on CairnGorm itself, or the fascinating Landmark Centre in Carrbridge are only 2 examples of a host of activities to amuse both children and parents alike.
